WHO AM I?

"I’ve have always known that no matter what I did in life, I wanted to be helping others. "

I believe in the “pay it forward” approach – I want to perpetuate kindness, empathy, and humanity. I know that a life of serving others doesn’t appeal to everyone. This job is only taken on by a few, and those who are willing to answer the call need to be selfless, sincere, and passionate. Ardent, caring, enthusiastic, and motivated are just a few words I would use to describe myself.  I enjoy helping others and volunteering my time, efforts, and skillsets for a greater cause. I am dedicated to making a difference in the world, whether through individualized acts of goodwill or by serving a multitude of people.

I will be obtaining a Bachelors degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration in Human Services and a minor in Gerontology. I am determined to reach my goals and I expect to graduate from York College of Pennsylvania in the Spring of 2016 – a full year earlier than my peers; this attests to my hard work and dedication. While in school I have been involved in numerous activities including the Campus Activities Board and Orientation initiatives. I have also participated in a variety of diverse service learning opportunities throughout the community and served as one of York College's volunteer coordinators.

"Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more.”

 -H. Jackson Brown

“Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”

 -Martin Luther King

ASPIRATIONS?

After graduation I plan on gaining more experience in the field of Human Services and Gerontology, working at an assisted living center or a retirement community. Eventually, I would like to obtain a Masters degree in Social Work with the intention of finding permanent employment in a hospital setting or retirement community as a patient consultant.

I believe it is within these environments that I can make the most impact – working with aging adults to improve their standards of living, morale, and overall health.
